Level 2 BTEC Award in Dementia Care

This qualification has been developed from the knowledge set from Skills for Care.

The qualification is developed within the context of recommendations for best practice by the Commission for Social Care Inspection and the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.

The qualification enables learners to develop the underpinning knowledge required to care for people with dementia and may be a precursor to competence based qualifications.

The qualification will be relevant for all workers in the health and social care and health work force who are working with people with dementia.

• How to define dementia
• Understanding how to support and care for individuals with dementia
• Understanding roles, responsibilities and boundaries when caring for individuals with dementia
• Understanding legislation and guidance relevant to the care of individuals with dementia
