The Level 2 BTEC Award in Infection Prevention and Control has been developed from the knowledge set developed by Skills for Care.
This award is suitable for those working in health and social care, as well as in health settings where infection prevention and control are important. It is also relevant for those who wish to transfer to occupations where these issues arise.
The qualification aims to familiarise learners with infection control legislation and policies. Learners will develop an understanding of the methods of cleaning and waste disposal that help prevent the spread of infection, along with the personal protective equipment they should use for their own safety. This knowledge will be underpinned by an increased understanding of the causes of infections, the conditions in which they thrive and the ways they can be spread.
